About Julia

Julia has invested her entire career in Children, and Families, and better supporting them, on a physical, emotional and mental level. During the first part of her career as a social worker in Children’s Court, and then for several years as a teacher in Pre-school she learnt how the health of one member of the family affects all. And a stressful environment (whether financial, emotional, allergic or toxic) puts a burden on the health of each family member. This motivated her to study BodyTalk, a treatment which focusses on improving communication and functioning between body, and mind and brain. 10 years later she qualified in CranioSacralFascial Therapy, specialising in Children and Families, and this lead to a passion for working with Families with Children with Special Needs.

Julia’s business has recently expanded, and she is now part of the Rosalind Road Therapy Centre, which also has an occupational therapist and a psychologist on the premises – a steady stream of families and children finding help, in difficult situations.

Finding the right treatment for YOU and YOUR Family

 Services

What do I offer to you and your family?

BodyTalk
is treatment which takes a unique approach to health and healing. It recognises that all parts of the body and brain influence each other, for example, when you stub your toe, your whole body (blood, nerves, immune system and emotions) knows about it! In a BodyTalk treatment with Julia, she works with the body to check for the priorities for improved health, and not just the most immediate obvious symptom. A BodyTalk session looks to find the underlying cause of pain, and disease, and focus the brain on improving how the whole body deals with it . Julia can also teach her clients a few basic techniques for boosting their own brain and body communication. 5 people in a room suffer from migraines – which is caused by allergies, a second from tension between the skull and spine, another as a side-effect from medication, a fourth is caused by emotion tension and a 5th is a result of a head injury or accident. It is critical to find the causes of pain and disease in the body
CranioSacralFascial Therapy (CFT)
is a hands-on treatment which focusses on 3 main areas, and their connections to the body. The Cranio refers to the Cranium- the skull, and Julia will literally hold the skull and feel for tensions which may have been caused by accident, surgery or injury. The skull, of course, houses the brain and in order to function optimally, the brain needs to move comfortably in the skull – sometimes the brain has been injured by disease, accident or surgery. Concussions, whiplash and falls cause bruises to the brain as it moves suddenly in the skull. These tensions can be gently freed up and repaired. Sacral refers to the Sacrum, the large bone at the base of your spine, above the coccyx. The sacrum is connected via the spine to the skull and is designed to be in a constant flow of movement – when we walk, bend and stretch, we are not rigid poles. Tension at the base of the spine – for example after a nasty fall on the coccyx (ice-skating, horse-riding often cause these) create a tension which pulls right up the spine into the neck and skull. It is very common to find that headaches suffered have past injuries to the lower spines, which their body has managed to carry for a long time. Our pelvises work hard in daily life, they hinge and move, and easily hold twists and tensions. Child-birth and pelvic surgery put  load of stress on the structure of the pelvis, as do falls and sport injuries. Fascia describes the web of connective tissue of our bodies, which houses our organs, bones, muscles, and is thicker in tendons and ligaments. Fascia is extremely sensitive to tearing and scarring. A scar is a thickening of the connective tissues and is a way for our bodies to protect an area which was hurt. Scar tissue can also hold emotional trauma. Thickened tissue in scars does not move as freely as it did before – shoulders, necks, ankles are all areas which are easily hurt and become too tight for comfort. CranioSacralFascialTherapy is a gentle technique in which the body is held, tensions discovered and gently unwound… immediately circulation of the body and brain is improved

 Testimonials

It was challenging but effective. Good advice from Julia. I had some food for thought and some work to do on myself. In addition to that, the actual body talk left me feeling a heck of a lot better and my energy started to return. My positive attitude to life has returned and I am ready to tackle most things again. Thank you Julia.
